Rachel N. Farmer, 97, of Fort Dodge and formerly of Waterloo, died at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, on Sunday, February 11, 2018 of natural causes. Rachel was born on September 9, 1920 in Ray, North Dakota, the daughter of Harry Warren & Nannie Virginia (Flowers) Nelson. She married Carl John Mannel on February 10, 1940 in Nashua and later divorced. She later married Robert Leo Farmer on March 26, 1956 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death in 1978. Rachel was a homemaker for many years and also worked at Walmart for five years retiring in 1992. Survived by her daughter, Shirley Stanek of Fort Dodge; a son, Dennis Mannel of Lolo, MT; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, a son, Carl J. Mannel, Jr.; three brothers, Walter, Francis & James Nelson; and four sisters, Thelma Boyce, Evelyn Zwanziger, JoAnn Hunemuller and Betty Coulter.
