Jane A. Peters

Jane Aleta Peters, 58, of Keokuk, Iowa, died at 9:15 AM Friday, March 04, 2011, at River Hills Village in Keokuk. Jane was born February 24, 1953, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond E. and Alice M. Skyles Kutcher. She married Kent Allan Peters on February 27, 1971, in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on May 2, 2007. She lived in Keokuk almost all of her life and graduated from Keokuk High School. She had been employed by Kutcher Dairy Queen. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Keokuk Humane Society, teaching dog obedience classes. She and her husband, Kent, were very involved with the Keokuk Veterans' Memorial Committee. Jane was a devoted homemaker and care-giver for her husband for 28 years. She is survived by a daughter, Shelly Rose and her husband, Tom, of Keokuk; a son, Gabe Peters and his wife, Rhonda, of Hamilton, Illinois; five grandchildren, Derek and Kelsey Rose and Jade, Jessilyn and Jodi Peters; one sister, Becky Figge of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two nieces, Patty Vestal and Brianne Ulrich; two nephews, Gary Kutcher and Brad Figge; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Allan and Norma Peters of Wisconsin; two brothers-in-law, Kim ...[more]

In addition to her husband, Kent, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a nephew. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center on Blondeau with Rev. John Raab officiating. Burial will follow in Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2011, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Keokuk Humane Society.
