Mason, Elizabeth 'Betty'

Elizabeth Ann 'Betty' Mason, 92, Des Moines, Iowa, died in Mitchellville, Iowa on Monday, February 19, 2018. She was born in Evansville, Indiana, April 24, 1925. Survivors include daughters, Mary K. (Joel) Werley, Joanne M. (Tim) Herold, son, James H. (Jackie) Mason, brothers, Tom (Karen) Nau, John (Sandy) Nau, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were husband, Jack H. Mason in 2011, parents, Ophir Preston & Dixie Ann (Decker) Nau, daughters, Nancy, Elizabeth, & Roberta, sister Dixie Hines, and brother, Ophir 'Bud' Nau. Betty retired as a manager/bookkeeper for the USDA credit union. Following that, she enjoyed working at the Civic Center for a number of years. She and Jack loved to square dance, she loved playing card games and was active in Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls. She was a member of the first synchronized swimming team at North High School. Visitation will be from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. and funeral services will be 11 a. m.
