Kenneth Mulligan

A funeral Mass for Kenneth J. Mulligan was held on Thursday, March 1st, 2018, at 10:30 AM at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft with Father Edward M. Girres officiating. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Bancroft American Legion. Kenneth James Mulligan was born January 28, 1925, in Bancroft, son of Frank and Florence (Nemmers) Mulligan. Kenny attended St. John's Catholic School and was drafted in the United States Army during World War II. Following his service, he went to college at Buena Vista in Storm Lake. On February 21, 1955, Kenny was united in marriage to Maxine Kay "Mickie" Penton at St. Benedict Catholic Church. They were blessed with six children, Vickie, Steve, Kelly, Dan, Nancy, and Julie. They together operated Mulligan Insurance and Real Estate for many years. Kenny also farmed, he served as a Federal Crop Adjuster, and also served as Kossuth County Weed Commissioner from 1997 until 2008. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus; and a 70 year member of the Bancroft American Legion. Kenneth J. Mulligan died Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Accura Healthcare Center, Bancroft at the age of 93. He had been a resident there since 2014. He is survived by five children, Vickie (Roger) Godfredsen of Milford, Steve (Teresa) Mulligan of Bancroft, Dan (Allison) Mulligan of Mesa, AZ, Nancy (Brian) Hatten of Bancroft, and Julie (Phil Goche) Laubenthal of Bancroft; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Marjie Menke of West Des Moines, and Marilyn (Jack) Healey of Louisville, NE; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Mulligan on June 23, 2015; his wife, Maxine on October 4, 2017; his parents; and his siblings, Thomas Mulligan, Joseph, Richard and Lawrence Mulligan in infancy, Maxine Borris, Arthur Mulligan, Monica Fuchs, and Patrick Mulligan.
