Jack M. Woodside, age 67 of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018. Jack was born in Indianapolis on April 20, 1950 to the late John M. Woodside, Jr and Helen Hesper Woodside. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Jo Higgs Woodside; his much-loved son and daughter in law, J. Michael Woodside, Jr and Amber Janitz Woodside, and his treasured granddaughters, McElla Lynn and Julianna Monroe Woodside who loved their "Pepop". He will be greatly missed by his dog and companion, Yankee. His siblings include brother, Paul Woodside (Maryellen) of Horseshoe Bend, AR, his sister, Kathy Young (William, deceased) of Medford, OR and sister Susan Lemay (Fred) of Franklin, TN. His brother Richard Woodside predeceased him. He also survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret Higgs of Indianapolis and brother-in-law, Joseph Higgs, Omaha, NE. Nieces and nephews include Debbi Woodside Ryerson, Jennifer Young, Bryan Young (Sarah), Christopher Lemay (Courtney), Katherine Ortiz (Tyler), Maria Elena Laughlin (David), Joseph W. Catholic School including football, basketball and baseball as well as baseball at Westlane-Delaware Trails Little League. He was the Varsity baseball Coach at Brebeuf High School. He coached travel baseball teams in the North Central league and the Indiana Bulls Baseball organization. Jack was a graduate of Brebeuf High School and Purdue University. Following graduation from Purdue, Jack worked as an Independent Insurace agent over 20 years. He also worked for the Indiana Pacers and the Capital Improvement Board after a career change. He returned to a career where he could enjoy his love of sports. Jack was on the Board of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and past President of the Board. He was awarded the Monsignor Albert Busald Award which recognizes adults who have given sustained service to the youth of their parish. He also received the St. John Bosco Medal which is the highest honor bestowed by the CYO to a volunteer. Jack was involved for many years with the Youthlinks Annual Charity Golf Tournament that generates money for youth-serving groups. He was awarded the Father Paul O'Brien Award for Service by Brebeuf High School and the Cathedral "Tradition"Man of the Year Award by Cathedral High School. Jack was an excellent golfer who loved the game. He was a Meridian Hills Club Champion, twice the Ol' Buddy Champion, the Father-Son Champion with his son, Michael, and made several hole-in-ones. In addition to his love for the game of golf at Meridian Hills Country Club, Jack also served on the Board of Directors and as Club President of Meridian Hills Country Club. Family and friends will gather on Monday March 19th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 20th at 11:00 pm at Luke Catholic Church.
