Gary Lee VaLeu Sr., 74, of Burlington, died 4:11 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home.
Born March 4, 1944 in Mt. Pleasant, IA, he was the son of Leland and Dorothy (Baldwin) VaLeu. He married Paulette Russell on November 25, 1995 in Burlington, IA.
Mr. VaLeu spent much of his life roofing. He attended services at the Salvation Army and loved sports, attending Burlington Bees baseball games and football. He never missed a garage sale. He served on an aircraft carrier in the Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife Paulette Russell of Burlington: five children, Gary VaLeu Jr. of Sullivan, MO, Carol Wehrle of Burlington, Dan VaLeu of Kingston, Kevin (Tracy)VaLeu of North Carolina and Daran (Lisa) VaLeu of Viola, IL: nine grandchildren; Courtni VaLeu Easley, Kylar VaLeu, Kendall VaLeu, Brooke VaLeu, Brandon VaLeu, Trevor VaLeu, Garrett VaLeu, Hannah VaLeu and Bryce VaLeu; one great granddaughter Ava Easley; one sister Marla McFall and one brother Robert "Bob" VaLeu of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
