Harlan Walker Fanning, age 78 of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Lynchburg Nursing Center. He was born in the Hurdlow Community on June 8, 1939 to Jewell Walker and John V. Fanning. He was employed with Jack Daniel Distillery for 33 years. He was one of the founders of Camp Joy. Walker loved the Christ centered focus for the children campers. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stewart "Tut" Michael Fanning and son-in-law, Roy Adams Bowman. Walker is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha Ann Crocker Fanning; son, Stephen Walker (Brooke) Fanning of Lynchburg; daughter, Susie Marie Bowman of Shelbyville; brother, Johnny Randall (Betty) Fanning of Lynchburg; and 9 grand children and 3 great grand children. Visitation will be held from 5-9 pm on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Leo Bechard officiating. Interment will follow at Lynchburg Cemetery with Ross Fanning, Tyler Bowman, Heath Fanning, Blake Fanning, Austin Wilhite, Demetrius Hill, and Jason Fanning serving as pallbearers.
