CARL SCHMELZER MUSCATINE, Iowa - Carl L. Schmelzer, 57, of Muscatine, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at Jesus Mission. Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018, at the church. Pastor Sharon will officiate. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will follow the burial at the church. Memorials, to honor Carl, may be made to the family. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Carl was born on October 23, 1960, in Muscatine, the son of Earl L. and Peggy J Gray Schmelzer. He married Jessica Fuget on October 23, 2013 at the Jesus Mission in Muscatine. He was a self-taught mechanic. Carl was a member of Jesus Mission Church and the Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed bowling with the Eagles traveling bowling league with the 'BS' Team. He loved traveling and putting together model car kits. He was a quiet, well known man.
