Robert A. Kopp

Waunakee- Robert A. Kopp, age 76, died on Sunday, April 1, 2018, following a long illness. He was born on February 7, 1942, to Joseph P. and Rose A. (Meffert) Kopp on a farm in Waunakee in the Township of Westport, the youngest of 2 brothers and 4 sisters. He attended St. John's Parochial School and graduated from Waunakee High School in 1960. Bob was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and also of Holy Family Catholic Church in LaValle. He married his best friend and love of his life, Shirley A. Ripp, on April 27, 1963. He worked for Endres Manufacturing for 39 years as a welder retiring in March of 2003. He was a member of the 32nd Army National Guard from March of 1960 to March of 1964 and called up for the Berlin Crisis from March of 1961 to June of 1962. He was also a member of Waunakee Volunteer Fire Department for 29 years. He enjoyed being with family and friends, spending time at the udder place, hunting with family, cooking on a wood fire, baking Monster cookies, and watching the Badgers, Packers and Brewers. He was also survived by his three sisters, Mary, Doris (Clarence) Dahmen, Kathy (Larry) Thornton; his in-laws, Nancy (Don) Keller, Gary (Nancy) Ripp; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; infant son, Bradley; sister, Joella (Carl) Endres; brothers, Don (Catherine) and Joseph Jr. (Marcy); in-laws, Ed and Marie Ripp, Doris (Loren) Schilitz, and Allen Werho. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St John's Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate.
