JoAnn, 83, died Friday, April 20, 2018 surrounded by loved ones in Des Moines, IA. JoAnn was born September 16, 1934, in Perry, Iowa, to Thomas and Lola (Anderson) Mash. She married Norman Thomas on July 31, 1955 in Dallas Center, where they made their home and raised their three children. JoAnn cared for her family and loved to be around them. She liked to shop, go gambling with friends, cheer on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and eat ice cream. JoAnn and Norman spent winters in Arizona for the last 12 years and made the permanent move to Mesa four years ago. JoAnn is survived by her three children, Dan (Darlene) Thomas of Madrid, Pam Light of Grimes, and Bill (Paige) Thomas of Phoenix, AZ; grandson, Clint Thomas; six granddaughters, Katie (T.J.) Vance, Kari (Scott) Richey, Tracy (Dustin) Regan, Madison Thomas, Jordan Thomas, and Dylan Thomas; seven great-grandchildren; Skyler, Porter and Zaidyn Regan, Leila and Harper Richey, Kinsley and Easton Hyde. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, her parents, Tom and Lola and all 12 older siblings.
