Rex was born in 1928 in Terra Haute, IN and recently passed March 22, 2018 in Dallas, TX. Before being widowed in 2007, Rex had been married for 56 years, to Betty V. Minton (Green). Both grew up in Hamilton, OH and he served in the US Army 82nd Airborne Division as a Paratrooper. Rex became a Tool & Die apprentice at Fisher Body of General Motors in Hamilton, and then transferred to the Willow Springs, IL facility. Settling in LaGrange, IL. Rex established his home and family with Betty having three sons, Rex James, Russell Gregory and Randall Wayne Minton. All three sons having survived Rex, have broaden the family, by six grandchildren, namely Adam, Lindsey, Mark, Taylor, Alexandra and Wes Minton. Rex also had the pleasure of meeting four great grandchildren, Cooper, Brooks, Piper, and Adaline. Rex is survived by loving family members here in Hamilton as well. After retiring from GM, Rex pursued a second profession and along with his three sons created an automation equipment company, which was ultimately sold to a multi-national entity. As far back as High School some referred to him as "little but mighty". Rex was an avid runner completing his first full Marathon at 62! Rex was also a poster boy for MD Anderson having survived pancreatic cancer in 1990-91! He was always determined, always tenacious, always ready to work, and always considerate. Rex will be greatly missed. Memorial Services occur April 28, 2018, 11am, at Ivey Funeral Home at Ross Hill Burial Park in Hamilton.
