Services to honor and celebrate the life of Jo Anna Mae Challman will be 2 PM Saturday, April 28, 2018 in the RiverCrest Chapel, Bixby. She will be laid to rest in Osawatomie, Kansas.
Born January 31, 1936 in Storm Lake, Iowa, Jo Anna was the daughter of Chester Clayton Challman, Sr. and Doris Bertha (Bockwoldt) Challman. Following high school, Jo Anna furthered her education attaining a master's degree in Sociology. She then spent a career as a teacher and a professor working for various colleges through the years.
A member of the American Association of University Professors, Sigma Kappa sorority, the National Wildlife Federation, AARP, and the First Baptist Church of Bixby, Jo Anna was a scholar and one who believed that she could make a difference in the world around her.
Jo Anna passed away on Thursday in Broken Arrow at the Cedarcrest Care Center. She was 82.
She is survived by: her niece, Rosemary Jacobs of Longview, Texas; her nephew, Christopher Challman of Berthoud, CO; her sister-in-law, Jean Challman of Holstein, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Chester Clayton Challman, Jr.
