FORT WORTH - Johnny Hampton Vinson, a generous and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Tyler, Texas, to Lillian Kathleen (Dawson) and Fenner Melvin Vinson. Johnny will be remembered as proud head of the family, a dear friend, a mentor, a sage advisor in business and life, and the consummate oil and gas producer.

Johnny spent his early years in East Texas, where he met and married "the prettiest girl in town" Eloise Sanders. In 1952, at the request of George Mitchell, they moved to Bridgeport and Johnny began his career in the oil and gas business along with building their family. Johnny is known for his many accomplishments at Threshold, along with numerous accolades as he served as Chairman of the Board for Arch Petroleum, Inc. (ARCH) from 1988 to 1998. Never one to sit still he also became involved in ranching and real estate and created the much-loved Rolling V Ranch. Johnny was respected for his vision, his perseverance, and for being fair, honest and incredibly hardworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James Vinson.

Survivors: Loving wife, Eloise Sanders Vinson; daughters, Jackie Vinson Scroggins and husband, Randy and Vicki Vinson Cantwell and husband, Greg; son, Johnny Hampton (Bud) Vinson II and wife, Cheryl; beloved grandchildren, Kyle Scroggins (Brittany), Courtney Scroggins Critz (John), Cameron Scroggins (Carli), Christopher Scroggins, Carissa Scroggins Sherman (Marshall), Caitlin Scroggins Atnip (Brandon), Blake Vinson, Brittany Vinson, Brianna Vinson, Austin Cantwell and Gunnar Cantwell; and 15 cherished great-grandchildren.
