James Robert Forrester, age 71 of Shelbyville, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at VA Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born on June 16, 1947 to the late John William and Mary B. (Sanders) Forrester. James served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. During his time of service, he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Amy Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, an Overseas Service Bar, Purple Heart, Air Medal, and Expert Badge M-14. James later retired from the United States Postal Service, where he was employed as a Supervisor. He was extremely patriotic and proud of his service to our country. In his leisure time, James enjoyed gardening and being outside. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie Ray Forrester and Billy Forrester. Kelvey, all of Tullahoma; and sister, Wilma Jean Adcock of Lynchburg. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm Friday, June 22, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. A.J. Alderman officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
