Opal Mae Johnson

Muncie-Opal Mae Johnson, 74, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at her residence. She was born on Wednesday, September 1, 1943, the daughter of Henry and Vada (Wilson) Skaggs in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Opal was a homemaker and a caregiver. She attended the 20th Street Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana. Opal is survived by her children, Janet Thompson, Betty (Foster) Deckard, Steve (Patty) Johnson, Donald Johnson (partner, James Adams), and Tracy (Jean) Johnson; grandchildren, Brandy, Travis, Ashley, Jessica, Dusty, Shawn, Kandice, Kyle, Boyce, Christopher, Nicholas, Steven, Julie, Justin, Justina, and Jannel; thirty-seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hildreth G. "Hillbilly" Johnson; son, Hilly Jr.; son-in-law, Randall K. Thompson; brother, Donald J. (Francis) Dyer; sisters, Shirley (Carl) Eacret and Bonnie (Charles) McGinnis. Services will be held Friday, June 22, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Brother Carl Norris officiating.
