John C. Swearingen

Muncie-John C. Swearingen, 88, passed away early Saturday morning, June 23, 2018, at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital surrounded by his youngest daughter, Jennifer Stone. He was born on Wednesday, July 24, 1929, in Newton, Missouri, the son of Clarence and Dorthy (Harper) Swearingen. John proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Delco Battery of Muncie, Indiana after thirty years of service. John enjoyed playing golf and was very proud that he got two holes-in-one. He was also an avid bowler and an avid Cub's fan. He also was a jack of all trades. John is survived by his son, John Douglas (Sue) Swearingen; daughters, Diania (Max) Weaver, Jennifer (Steve) Stone, Pam (Randy) Jeffris, and Peggy (Jay) Church; brothers, Ronney (Charlotte) Swearingen and Mickey (Alice) Swearingen; sister, Mildred Hearn; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Velma Swearingen; son, Steve Swearingen; daughter, Katherine Swearingen.
