Esther Mae Vanalstyne

Esther Mae VanAlstyne, 85, a lifelong Columbia County resident, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, NY.

Born on February 11, 1933, in Hudson, NY, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Catherine E. (Burke) Dutcher.

For many years, Esther worked as a Supervisor with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles based in Albany, NY.

Esther was predeceased by both her husbands, Edward F. Hermance and William VanAlstyne Sr.; along with two sons, Vincent (Buddy) Hermance, and Daniel Hermance; a sister, Helen Dutcher; a brother, Royce Dutcher; and a half-brother, Walt Dutcher.

She is survived by a sister, Clara Rochester, and a brother Daniel Dutcher. A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held at the Ghent VFW, Ghent NY on July 22, 2018 at 3:00 pm.
