Connie Collins
Connie Sue Collins, 66, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Buffet Cancer Center, in Omaha, Nebraska.
Connie was born June 25, 1951, in Atlantic, Iowa, to Duane and Cora (Chapman) Meyer. She grew up in Lewis attending elementary school there and graduating from Griswold High School in 1969.
On September 21, 1990, she married Michael Collins in Las Vegas, Nevada. Connie worked in the pharmacy at the Cass County Memorial Hospital, then was employed as a transcriptionist at Southwest Iowa Mental Health Center, both in Atlantic. She was once a member of the Atlantic Jayceettes.
Some enjoyments in Connie's leisure time included traveling, cross stitching, jigsaw puzzles, reading, movies, scrap booking, flower gardening, and attending Broadway and live shows. A particular fond memory of hers was whale watching when they were in Hawaii. Above all, her happiest times were those spent building a loving environment while spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Preceding Connie in death were her parents, Duane and Cora Meyer.

Stanley and Amy Schultz of Omaha, NE, Stephen F. Collins of Okoboji, IA, Nathan L. Stanley of Ottawa, KS, Matthew G. Stanley of Omaha, NE, Christine M. (Collins) Bangsund and Peter of Chico, CA, and Angela R. (Collins) Hjorth and Clete of Oskaloosa, IA; grandchildren, Collin and Leona Bangsund, Cameron and Anders Hjorth, Kinsley Stanley, and in July a new grandson. Also, brothers, Raymond and Dawn Meyer of Atlantic, IA and Rick Meyer of Atlantic, IA; and numerous cousins and other relatives.
Memorials may be designated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Center at www.pancan.org or to the family.
Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa.
