Karen Denise Turner, 52, passed away peacefully in Kirkland, Washington on July 14, 2018. She was born October 19, 1965 in Seattle and grew up mostly in Boise, Idaho. She attended Jackson Elementary, West Junior High, and Borah High schools in Boise, graduating from high school in 1983. She then moved back to Seattle to attend University of Washington where she graduated with a Psychology degree in 1987. She started her career in banking, working in Las Vegas for a period of time in the late 80's/early 90's. Then she moved back to Seattle again where she worked for Bank of America from 1990-1996. While there, she met Dave Willeiksen and they married in 1995. She worked at Key Corp from 1996-1997, and then changed her career to become a Technical Writer at Boeing from 1997-2003. Karen and Dave bought a house in Bothell, Washington in 1996. They then had two sons together, Adam, born in 1999, and Ryan, born in 2002, before separating in 2010 and later divorcing. She loved her children fiercely and took great pride in their accomplishments. positions, and also for the PACE program through the Northshore School District, where she was on various committees. Karen loved animals, especially her Portuguese water dogs, Oliver and Beep. She volunteered with Pasado's Safe Haven for a time and loved her work there. She also had a knack for all things culinary and crafty, and a great eye for style and color. Karen will be remembered as a witty, smart, silly, sarcastic, and fun-loving person. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend who will be dearly missed. Karen is survived by her sons Adam Willeiksen and Ryan Willeiksen of Bothell; parents Hal & Jean Turner of Wenatchee and Virginia Turner of Bothell; sister Julie Thomas (Ken) of Bothell; nephews Ian Wilder and Evan Wilder of Bothell; as well as many other friends and family members. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday August 18, 2018 at 1:00pm at Lifetime Celebrations by Washelli, 18224 103rd Ave NE, Bothell, WA 98011. Karen's family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and other staff members at Evergreen Hospital, particularly the Palliative Care group and the hospitalists, and Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland for the excellent care Karen (and Karen's family) received during the last month of her life.
