SAN ANGELO ~Juan Antonio Martinez 69, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018.
Johnny was born in Seminole, TX to Pedro Ortiz Martinez and Consuelo Pena Martinez on May 14, 1949. He was a devoted grandfather and father. He supported his family in every way he could. He was a hard-worker. He never missed a sporting event for his grandchildren, he was there for every holiday, birthday and sporting event. His grandchildren loved him so much. There aren't many children who wait for their grandfather to arrive on Christmas morning before opening any gifts from santa, but Johnny's did!
One of his favorite childhood memories was loading hay, hunting and fishing with his brothers, learning how to drive trucks, and cruising in his baby blue 55 chevy. Johnny was always busy with his hands and was a very hard worker. He was a general contractor for several years and built the club Crossroads which is now Heff's Burgers and several penitentiaries throughout Texas. ride bikes without training wheels, read, and learn to tie shoes. Johnny was a carefree person, he liked to have a good time, and was always there for anyone in need. He had a great sense of humor, was attentive, and very protective of his family and people he cared about.
Johnny was prededed in death by his parents; brother, Pedro Pena Martinez; sister Anna Maria "Anita".Martinez.
He is survived by his children, Anthony Scott Madril, Rose Martinez, and Marie Martinez; step children; Timothy Madril, T. J. Clemmer, Mario Araiza and Martin Araiza; grandchildren, Anthony, Anna, Alanna Madril, Stephanie Martinez, Jesus, Adam, Nathanial; great-grandchilden, Zachariah, Mariah and his brother Jose "Joe" A. Martinez
Visitation will be all day Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way with a rosary at 6:00 pm. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in Fairmount Cemetery with military honors. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way.
