Charles Jobie Hughes passed away on August 22, 2018, in Davie Florida. He was born on March 23, 1936 in Hippo, Kentucky. He was the oldest of eight children born to Marion and Hattie Hughes. He was preceded in death by his sister Fay Staller. He was survived by his six other siblings: Sarah Best, Jim Hughes, Melvin Hughes, Patti Kaler, Shirley Crisp, and Ray Hughes; three children: Gail Gomez, Kelly Smith and Kyle Hughes; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Jobie move from Kentucky to Ohio where he lived in several small towns including Shiloh. He first married Mona Jean Nonamaker and they had one child, Gail. They were divorced and he went on to marry Joyce Harnly, they had two children, Kelly and Kyle. They moved from Dayton Ohio to West Dayton Circle in Ft Lauderdale in 1971. In Ft Lauderdale he had many occupations before settling into the t-shirt business, he also owned the Southwest Soccer Shop. Jobie had coached youth baseball for many years, when his son Kyle was 5 he ventured into soccer. His soccer teams became his greatest love after his family. ion to St Thomas, his teams had three national championships, fourteen state appearances with five state championships, a three-peat in Class 5A from 1996-1998 they won it all again in 2005 and 2011, and four state runner-up finishes. Jobie was involved with many aspects of the athletic department at St Thomas Aquinas, he was known as the "voice" of Brian Piccolo Stadium at the football games and helped with coaching the softball team. Though Jobie will be remembered by many as the guy with a good story or joke, he was dedicated to helping kids. After a long battle with renal cancer, Jobie leaves us all wishing we had more time with him. Please join his family for services at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church 4945 Bayview Dr. Ft Lauderdale FL 33308, on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Mount Hope in Shiloh Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Jobie Hughes Memorial Scholarship Fund.
