Lela R. Hanson-Brackin

Lela R. Hanson-Brackin age 81 of Evansdale died Sunday August 12, 2018 in Waterloo. She was born on August 25, 1936 in Des Moines the daughter of Jesse L. and Marjorie E. Johnson Waltz. She graduated from East High School in Des Moines with the class of 1953. Lela married Earl M. Hanson on February 20,1960 in Des Moines he preceded her in death on January 14, 1986. She married Lawrence Brackin on November 23, 1988 in Confidence, Iowa, he preceded her in death on May 5, 1996. She worked as a communication clerk at Covenant Hospital answering after hour's calls for doctors for 21 years retiring in 2008. She enjoyed watching television shows particularly game shows, Days of Our Lives, and Dr. Phil. She also enjoyed watching gold finches and other birds on her bird feeder. Survivors include: three daughters, Deanna (Charles) Campbell of Waterloo, Marlene (John) Magnuson of Elk Run Heights, and Earlene (Bob Johnson) Henninger of Evansdale; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Hanson of Evansdale; a sister, Sandra Hagen of Virginia; a stepson, Bill Brackin, of Lathrop, MO; 10 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren;14 great grandchildren and 2 more on the way; 10 step great grandchildren; and 3 s...[more]
