Don Joseph Cooper

Don Joseph Cooper, 62, of Keokuk, died Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Unity Point-Keokuk. Don was born on March 29, 1956, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Rudolph and Viona Banks Cooper. He married Tracie Jones, they later divorced and of that union his son Brian Cooper was born. On July 13, 2002 he married Michelle Williams in Keokuk. She survives. Don was a lifelong resident of Keokuk. He worked for Steel Casting for twelve years, a maintenance worker at Keokuk Community School District and was working as a Security Guard at Unity Point. He was in the local Steel Union while worker at Keokuk Steel Castings. He was a former member of Local Clown Group. Don enjoyed helping and entertaining people. Don and Michelle would play Santa and Mrs. Claus at Christmas. He was a member of the NRHA (National Hot Rod Association), lifelong Hot Rod fan. His biggest enjoyment was being with his family, especially his grandkids. A very giving and generous person and loved to decorate for the holidays. L, Rylan Worrell and Anthony Smith both of Keokuk, IA; stepchildren Shannon (Kevin) Radle of Lafayette, IN and their children Isabelle and Clara; Heather (Nick) Carlson of Gooselake, IA and their children Ben & Katie; Jared (Britni) Parker of Low More, IA and Brinly; sister Loretta (Kenneth Davis) Schaffer; brother Rudy (Debbie) Cooper of Keokuk, IA; two brother-in-law Michael Williams and Jeffrey Williams; father-in-law Michael Williams, nieces, nephews and Damon Cackley who was like another son to him. Don was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, one sister Carol and his mother-in-law. There will be a casual celebration of Don's life on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM with family and friends will visit and share memories about Don at DeJong - Greaves Celebration of Life at 917 Blondeau Street. In lieu of flowers the family request donation made to either American Heart Association or Iowa Donor Network.
