John Joseph Cinkovich

John Joseph Cinkovich, age 89, of Centerville, Iowa died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at his home in Centerville. John was born May 17, 1918, the son of Stephan and Anna (Raskie) Cinkovich in Wisconsin. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Centerville. John worked in the coal mines for several years. Following the conclusion of the CC Camps, he enlisted in the United States Navy. John served five years in the Navy and was stationed in Africa during WWII. John loved fishing, hunting, gardening, playing his accordion, picking walnuts in the Fall, and eating ice cream. John is survived by five sisters, Delores (Tom) Cortesio of Centerville, Iowa, Lu Cinkovich of Centerville, Iowa, Ann Wika of Chicago, Illinois, Helen Erasmus of Chicago, Illinois, and Kay Matuzewski of Chicago, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; six brothers, Andrew, Chuck, Frank, Fabian, Emil and Max; three sisters, Mary, Bea, and Rosalie.
