John Grismore
John R. Grismore, age 84 of Centerville, Iowa, passed away June 10, 2009 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa. John was born October 21, 1924, the son of John and Jennie (Bussey) Grismore in Corydon, Iowa.. He married Virginia Rice on December 30, 1947 in Anniston, Alabama. John attended and graduated from Jeweler's School at Bradley College in Peoria, Illinois. After graduation, John went into the jewelry business. He owned and operated jewelry stores in both Seymour and Centerville for thirty seven years, retiring in 1989. In his free time, John enjoyed geneology, astronomy, writing short stories, and spending time with his friends at the 18-80 Club in Centerville. John was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville for forty six years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ben, Paul, Wilson, and Robert Grismore; sisters, Opal, Marie, Pauline, and Peggy Grismore, and Marjorie Donald. Funeral services with military rites will be held 1:30 PM, Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Terra Amundson officiating. Burial will follow at the Hazel Dell Cemetery near Allerton, Iowa. A visitation will be held Friday at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
