Sunday school teacher and in the choir. She also belonged to the McCallsburg American Legion Auxillary. Marcella's family was her life. She enjoyed spending time with them and attending all the various activities. Hiding over 200 Easter eggs was always a special time she looked forward to. She also enjoyed bowling, crosswords and later on, putting together jigsaw puzzles with friends. She was also quite the baker, despite her standard proclamation that it's "not worth a darn" or "hardly fit to eat", you wouldn't find a better Kringla. Marcella might have said she wasn't worth a nickel, but to her family she was priceless gold. Those left to cherish her loving memory are her children Pam Thompson of Story City, IA, Mike Hill of Dahinda, IL, and Gregory Hill of El Paso, TX; grandchildren Heather (TJ) Risetter, Lasey (Justin Heath) Handeland, and Cale (Juree) Thompson; great-grandchildren Paiton (Ian) Calvert, Braxton and Teagan Risetter, Carson and Ava Handeland; great-great-grandchild Emerson Jane Calvert; sister-in law Helen Zook, brother-in-law Jerry Anderson and several nieces and nephews. Those preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, her sisters Evelyn (Blanchard) Thompson and Beverly Anderson, sister-in-law Adeline (Owen) Fincham, brother-in-law Jordan Hill and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church or Bethany Life Communities. Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care, in Zearing, has been entrusted with the care of Marcella and her family.
