Charlie Martin, 71 of Highland, NY died Saturday October 27th at Wingate at Ulster. He was born May 21, 1947 to Adelbert Christie Martin and Charlotte Shaw Martin. He was preceded in death by his father (1970) and his mother (2013).
He received his education in the Highland Central School District, having graduated in 1967. His employment history included working 40 years at Hudson Valley Newspapers, Inc. and 30 years at Poughkeepsie Journal Newspapers.
An afficionado of local history, he was one of the founding members of the Town of Lloyd Historical Preservation Society with the assistance of Dot Gruner, former Town of Lloyd Historian. Charlie was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Highland where he served as Deacon, Elder and Church School Coordinator.
Survivors include sisters Jessica and Karen of Highland; brother Kevin and sister in law Jane of Leigh Acres, Florida; and Aunt Marjorie Woolsey of Highland. The family will receive friends at the First presbyterian Church, 26 Church Street, Highland, NY 12528 on Wednesday October 31st from 11am until 12noon. Funeral will immediately follow at the Church at 12noon. Burial will follow the service in the Lloyd Cemetery.
