Services to honor and remember the life of Jerry Wolf will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in the River Crest Chapel, Bixby. Jerry passed away at his home on Sunday. He was 79. Born April 22, 1939 in Kirksville, Missouri, Jerry Lee Wolf was the only child born to George and Jessie (Taylor) Wolf. Raised and educated in his birth community, Jerry had fond memories of his childhood. Those memories involved going hunting with his dad, riding horses, and simply being a boy and getting away with things that most people couldn't. Following high school, Jerry joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country, first on active duty, and later as a reservist. Once discharged, he attended college and quickly began a life as a salesman where he was known to sell a little bit of everything to almost anyone. The range of his offerings spanned from insurance to encyclopedias, copy machines to closed circuit television systems, and most recently advertising - just to name a few. o active in the Jaycees and Junior Chamber of Commerce where he chaired several committees and even served as the District Vice President. He was proud to attend state and national conventions in that capacity. Successful in his endeavors, Jerry was presented with numerous sales awards. A man who loved the outdoors, Jerry spent a lot of time riding horses and camping. He was a member of the Okie-Arkie Trail Association, riding horseback from Tahlequah to Ft. Smith. He was also a member of the Oil Capitol Trail Ride Club, riding thousands of miles on his mule, Slick. Fishing and hunting were also long-time loves for Jerry and there were numerous trips made throughout Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma hunting for deer, elk, antelope and bear. When he wasn't riding a horse, fishing or hunting, Jerry could be found at the Ranch riding his ATV. When at home, Jerry probably had a John Wayne or Sam Elliott western on the TV or he was hollering at the television while watching the Kansas City Chiefs, OU Sooners or OSU Cowboys play football. Jerry enjoyed brewing his own beer and was a great cook - even owning a food trailer "Branding Iron BBQ" for a time. Described as a bit stubborn and hard-headed, Jerry was known to have a rugged and tough exterior, but also a soft heart if you knew how to break through and find it. Jerry was a bit opinionated, but he was also successful and believed that you should work to live, not live to work. "Don't look Ethel" and "I heard the question" were a couple of Jerry's sayings. While living out on the ranch, there was a lot of work that had to be done, but there were also a lot of fun times and memories made. During Jerry's illness, he had a vision or a dream. In that dream, he saw Jesus and knew that no matter the road that he had to travel, that at the end of the trail he would meet his Savior and Creator. Jerry passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at his beloved ranch with his family and his cherished dogs by his side whom Jerry noted as truly, loyal friends. Jerry was 79. He is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Linda Wolf; children: daughter, Jerilyn Dodge; daughter, Julie Stoehr; daughter, Lynnette Rhoads (Jim); son, Layne Stice and son, Lee Stice; eight grandsons: Derek, Nathan, Jake, Kyle, Kory, Carter, Jacob and Kaleb, which he never called by their real names, but by nicknames, along with numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, George Wolf and Jessie Yowell-Deaton. He will be laid to rest, next to his parents, in LaPlata, Missouri.
