Carol Elise Friedman, died on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. She was born on May 29,1933 in New York City, a daughter of the late Murray and Sally (Green) Meyerson. She was predeceased by her first husband, Bernard Lewis Friedman, and her second husband, Daniel Bernstein. Carol lived in Orange, CT for many years, and raised her family there. She later lived in Upper Montclair, NJ for a number of years, and, most recently, in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Allison Beth Friedman and Allison's husband, David, of New Paltz, NY; her son Jud Joseph Friedman and his wife, Stacy, of Van Nuys, CA; and her son David Owen Friedman of Poughkeepsie, NY. She is survived by grandchildren Evan Daniel, Dylan Emmet, Ariane Nicole, Esme Ariel, Connor Elias, Michael Alexander; and her great-granddaughter,Penelope Lynn. She was predeceased by her sister, Lilyan Belkin.

It is with deep sadness that Allison, David, Jud, Allison's husband David, and Jud's wife Stacy must announce the loss our beautiful, loving mother/mother-in-law Carol Elise Friedman, who passed away on Christmas Day.

There are so many words and no words. We look forward to sharing feelings and memories with many of you in the days to come. For now, here is some relevant info.

Mom's funeral and memorial service will be held at 12 pm this Sunday, December 30, at Copeland Funeral Home, 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY 12561. The service will be followed by a reception at Allison and David's home in New Paltz.

The interment (burial) will take place at 11 am on Monday, December 31st, at Temple Emanuel Cemetery, 10 Ladas Place, Shelton, CT 06484 (http://tegnh.org/temple-emanuels-cemetery/ for directions and more information), with lunch to follow at a local restaurant yet to be determined.

We will be sitting shiva (in the Jewish religion, a period of mourning following the death of a loved one) at Allison and David's home this Monday, Dec. 31st, 6 pm-9 pm, Tuesday, Jan.1st, 2 pm-5 pm and Wednesday, Jan. 2, 5 pm-8 pm.
