Mary B. Dougan, age 91 of Waterloo, died Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Friendship Village Med Center. She was born March 23, 1927 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Battista and Louisa (Boetta) Bianchi. Mary was united in marriage with Gerald A. Dougan on June 12, 1948 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on December 6, 2010. Mary worked for Illinois Bell, Northwestern Bell, US West and Century Link Telephone companies as a clerk and a telephone operator, retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Waterloo and the Telephone Pioneers. Mary enjoyed volunteering at the circle desk at Covenant Medical Center and working at the lunch counter at Schoitz Memorial Hospital. She loved being outdoors, especially gardening, planting and caring for flowers. Mary also enjoyed leading the Telephone Pioneers making May baskets for the residents of Country View Care Center for many years. Survivors include several close friends, Rajka, Milenko, Sasa and Ruza Josavac, and Judy Kinnetz, all of Waterloo and Richard and Dorothy Grosse of Cedar Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
