Evelyn Zavala

Evelyn Zavala, 63, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019. She was born December 25, 1955 in Lorain, Ohio to Julia (Segarra) Gonzalez and the late Camilo Gonzalez. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her twin brother, William; and her sister Yolanda. Evelyn came to Sarasota in 1983 from Lorain, Ohio and was a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church. She loved dancing and was passionate about caring for children when she worked at the YMCA. She had a nurturing spirit and was a mom to all children. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Julio Zavala and his wife Caitlin; and Javier Zavala, both of Sarasota, Florida; daughter, Mariah Zavala; sisters, Betsy Gonzalez, Nilsa Ward and her husband John, Vivian, and Laticia Mills and her husband George, all of Lorain, Ohio; brother, Jesus "Eto" Gonzalez and his wife Tammy of Sarasota; and granddaughter, Rylin Scheller.
