Eileen H. Schaefer

Eileen H. Schaefer, 88, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at Ten Broeck Center in Lake Katrine. She was born December 26, 1930 in Jamaica, Queens to Albert and Mae (Eirman) Schaefer. Eileen was a graduate of SUNY New Paltz where she received her teaching degree in 1952. She later taught 1st & 2nd Grade for over 30 years at the Grant Avenue School in Uniondale, NY. She was a deacon at the Presbyterian church in Kingston, and later after the church closed, she became active at Fair Street Reformed Church in Kingston. Eileen had adopted two children through Compassion Cares, that she was very proud of. She is survived by her sister, Anne Kielly-Hunter (a.k.a. Sandra (Schaefer) Popowicz) of South Carolina, her nieces, Alexsandra Dunn of Albany, and Kerry Nieh of Bethesda, MD, as well as several great nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her brother, Albert Schaefer, and her nephew, Clyde Still.
