Joy Eileen Thompson, 92, entered the arms of her Savior February 6, 2019. She was born July 3, 1926 in Mishawaka, Indiana to the late Russell L. Galbreath, and Sylvia (Bice) Galbreath. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Hurben C. Thompson (WWII Iwo Jima Survivor); and granddaughter, Carie Miller.
Joy spent 19 years working at the South Bend Tribune in Indiana before she retired. Shortly after, she made the move to Florida in 2001. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, solitaire, quilting, sewing and knitting. But her favorite pastime was spending time with her beloved family and grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Janet Miller and her husband Pete of Granger, Indiana; Jerry Thompson (Sue Stewart) of Edwardsburg, Michigan; and Jana Pierce and her husband Mark of Sarasota, Florida; sister, Dorlene Ling and her husband Darrell of Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren, Jason, Christa, Candace, Scherese and Daniel; great grandchildren, Caitlynn, Ciera, Kingston, Lola, Cailey, Cohen, Corey, Cohen and Carter; and 2 great great grandchildren.
