Jeanne Pollard (Stinson), 94 (born April 11, 1924), of Lake Ozark and Ballwin, Missouri, much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, passed peacefully in her sleep during the morning of February 6, 2019. Jeanne, the daughter of John and Ruby Stinson of Baxter, Iowa, was raised on the family farm with her three beloved sisters (Marie Young/Van Gorp, Margie Mullihan and DoLores Wastier). Jeanne, a graduate of Baxter High School (1942), was the small but powerful guard on that eras successful Baxter girl's-basketball team. Jeanne remained an avid sports fan throughout her life following her much-loved ISU basketball and football teams with a passionate Cyclone fever. Jeanne entered the University of Iowa in the fall of 1942 where she joined her life's love, Bill (William Robert Pollard of Newton), they having met in Jeanne's senior year at a showing of 'How Green Was My Valley' in Newton. Jeanne and Bill were married on August 19, 1943, just prior to Bill's embarkation to Britain and Europe as a corporal in Patton's Third Army. Following Bill's return after VE, Jeanne and Bill lived the majority of their married life of 60 years in Des Moines, where Bill headed the well-regarded Pollard and Company, CPA firm. Jeanne and Bill were active members of Windsor Presbyterian Church in Urbandale Iowa, as well as, the Des Moines Golf and Country Club, the Hyperion Golf Club and the Embassy Club of Des Moines. In retirement, Jeanne and Bill moved to their lake home on Lake of the Ozarks where Bill passed on June 21, 2004. Jeanne continued to live in Missouri where at the age of 90 she followed her heart into the Catholic Church as a part of Holy Infant parish in Ballwin, Missouri. Jeanne maintained a very strong relationship with her extended family in Iowa, staying regularly with her best friend and beloved sister, DoLores, in Baxter. Jeanne is survived by her daughter Jan Ford (married to Matthew Ford of Ballwin Missouri), her son Dr. John Pollard (married to Dr. Claire Plante of Hawi, Hawaii), and her four cherished grandchildren - Daniel Ford (of Ballwin, Missouri), Andrew Ford (of Dallas, Texas), Hannah Harwood (married to Matthew Harwood of Toronto, Canada) and Sgt. Emilie Pollard USMC (of Okinawa, Japan). Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, Iowa. A mass of christian burial will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, Iowa with Father Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa.
