Ida M. Tate, 86, of the Quincy Senior Center, formerly of 2511 Sharon Dr., Quincy, died Tuesday January 8, 2008 at 5:05 pm, in her home. She was born May 20, 1921 in Leonard, MO, the daughter of Clarence and Lela Pitzer Sutton. After her parents died she was raised by an aunt and uncle, Sam and Mabel Cook of Clarence, MO. She was a 1939 graduate of Clarence High School. On April 3, 1946, she married Arnold J. "Joe" Tate in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1991. Mrs. Tate worked for five years with the Animal Warden of Adams County. She was also an employee of The Plaza for 14 years. Afterwards she worked for Motorola for ten years as an assembler. She was also an assembler and inspector for Harris Co. for nine years. She retired on March 31, 1983. After her retirement she continued working part-time as a school crossing guard. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge. Survivors include a son, Allen Tate and his wife, Cathy, of Quincy; three grandsons, Chad Tate, Quincy; Cory Tate and his wife Jaimee of Omaha, NE; and Nathan Tate and his wife Jody of Omaha, NE; 4 great grandchildren Nolan, Landon, Brady and Ella Tate, all of Omaha; two sisters, Christ...[more]

Wilson, of Macon, MO; and Ida's twin sister, Faye Blaise, of Shelbyville, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Margery Edwards. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 11 am in the Hansen Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Selves officiating. Burial will be at Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 6 pm at the funeral home. Memorials made to Quincy Senior Center or to the Brain Trauma Awareness Organization in her name would be greatly appreciated.
