bbies included antique collecting and flower growing. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and served as a volunteer for Mahaska Health Partnership.
Betty leaves these family members to cherish her memory, a daughter, Amy Marie Hibbs Gabel, of Waco, Texas, a son, Ralph Lawrence Hibbs II and husband Hector Crawford, of San Francisco, California, a grandson Corey James Gabel and partner Heather Thomas and great grandson, Oliver James Gabel of Oskaloosa, Iowa, two nephews Donald Neal Sloan and family of Des Moines, Iowa and Randy Allen Sloan and family of Corydon, Iowa, also several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Max Arthur Carlson, her sister Bernadine B. Sloan, her brother-in-law Mardeth Dean Sloan, her son-in-law James Dean Gabel, her son-in-law Gary Warren Drafahl and a nephew Richard "Bud" Sloan.
Per Betty's wishes, her body has been cremated and graveside services will be held in Old White cemetery in Oskaloosa, Iowa, at a future date.
