Kathryn E. Jackson

Kathryn E. Jackson, 92, of Burlington died Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at her home. Born June 10, 1926 at the family farm home in Sawyer, Iowa, she was the daughter of Francis M. and Laura (Orton) Sawyer. She married Vincent L. Jackson on June 15, 1946. He died October 3, 1988. Kathryn attended Sawyer School in Sawyer, Iowa and graduated from Denmark School in Denmark, Iowa. She worked for Schaefer Pen Co. and J.C. Penney in Fort Madison and the La Mont Glove Factory in Burlington. She was crossing guard for many years at Division and Leebrick Streets. She served as housekeeper and cook for Father Carl Leveling at St. Paul Catholic Church Rectory for many years and worked in dietary at St. Francis Care Center and Burlington Care Center. She assisted for many years as a Boy Scout Den leader and a Girl Scout leader for St. Paul's School. She enjoyed gardening and yard work. She did a lot of cross stitch, crocheting and embroidery work. The graveside memorial service and inurnment for Mrs. Jackson will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4th in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Rev. Shane Mc Campbell will officiate.
