Thomas (Tom) E. Laffey, Sr., 89, of Hollywood, Florida passed away April 29, 2019. Tom was born on July 21, 1929, in Brighton, Massachusetts, to William and Irene Laffey. He was the middle child of three sons. Tom graduated from Saint Columbkille High School, in 1949, in Brighton, MA. He joined the United States Navy in 1950 and proudly served on the USS Adirondack, which was moored in Naples, Italy. After receiving an honorable discharge in 1954, he returned to his hometown of Brighton, MA, and then eventually moved to Miami Beach, FL. Tom has been a resident of South Florida for the past 62 years. He was married to his wife Ann for 60 years, prior to her passing in 2018. He was a member of the Catholic faith. Tom worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 25 years and retired in 1991. He was a devout fan his entire life of the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins, but his true love was the Boston Red Sox. He always believed the Sox would win the pennant and one of his happiest moments was when they won the World Series in 2004 and he was thrilled to be able to see them win the World Series three more times prior to his death. er and will be forever remembered by his children and their spouses: Thomas Laffey, Jr. (Rhonda), Richard Laffey (Alma), Patty Barfield (Brad) and Theresa Dow (Don); his grandchildren, Bradley, Chad (Britanie), John, Kyle, Rebecca, Bridget and Pamela. Tom is also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; his parents, his brothers William and John; and his daughter, Carol Ann Laffey. In keeping with Tom's wishes, there will be no funeral services.
