Funeral Services for Mr. William Houston "Butch" Holman, age 91, of Livingston will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019 from the First Christian Church in Livingston. Rev. James Shenko will officiate. Burial to follow in the Overton County Memorial Gardens. The family will welcome friends at the Church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Mr. Butch Holman passed from this life on Wednesday evening, May 8, 2019 at the Livingston Regional Medical Center. Born at home on March 13, 1928 to the late William Lester and Mae Smith Holman. Butch was a 1945 graduate of Livingston Academy. Butch graduated from the University of Tennessee, Class of 1949, where he was a member of the UT Band, and Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. After college he started his working career as Co owner with his dad Lester Holman at Holman's Department Store from 1950 till they went out of business in 1967. Within a few weeks after closing the Holman's Department Store, he took over the job as Executive Director of the Livingston Housing Authority where he was at for 46 years until he retired at age 85. t Authorities. Butch was a charter board member of the Overton County Recreation Association, Inc. who built Hidden Valley Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the Livingston Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. Golfing was his life. He was a Loving Dad & Grandfather known as Booey! He also enjoyed singing gospel songs in the choir at the First Christian Church. He was an avid Tennessee VOLS Fan, and bowler. Butch served the city of Livingston as a past City Alderman under the Mayor Dwain Peterman. Elder Emeritus at First Christian Church of Livingston. Butch leaves behind is loving wife of 70 years, Mrs. Joyce Sidwell Holman of Livingston, TN; son, William Lee Holman of Livingston, TN; daughter, Betty Massengille of Livingston, TN; grandchildren, James William Massengille & wife Lee Ann of Cookeville, TN, Matthew Massengille & wife Jill of Chattanooga, TN, Beau Massengille & wife Margaret of Lebanon, TN, Gary Massengille of Cookeville, TN, Cecilia Holman Little of Tyler, TX, and McKenzy Holman of Livingston, TN; great-grandchildren, James Matthew Massengille, John Clay Massengille, Jack Thomas Massengille, Gracyn Massengille, Gillian Massengille, Mae Massengille, Ashleigh Arnold & husband Hank, and William Little; great-great-granddaughter, Ellie Arnold; sister, Mrs. Marie Wiggins of Nashville, TN nieces, Jeannie Wiggins, and Betty Lynch & husband Pat; nephew, Bill Wiggins & wife Gaye; also several great nieces and nephews and family. In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his son-in-law, James Edward Massengille; brother-in-law, Greer Wiggins, and baby sister, Lucille Holman. Pallbearers to serve are his grandsons and great-grandsons Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Winningham, Millard V.
