would watch it race. He looked up to his older brother Bob and decided that he would attend Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Indiana for Electrical Engineering after graduating Pittsfield High School with the Class of 1983. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Jim took a job at Magnavox and as he walked through the plant, a young lady caught his attention. After doing some investigating, he asked Amy J. Bradtmiller out. The two would fall in love and on June 1, 1990 they were married in Fort Wayne. Jim would end up taking a position and currently was working at AEP/ Indiana Michigan Power. Jim was a unique collector of items from a suite of armor, guns, down to grenades. A member of the NRA, he enjoyed loading his own bullets and going to the shooting range. He was a BBQ Master and a great cook. He mastered grilling out and smoking meats for his friends and family to enjoy. Jim also found time to root on his nephews as they played hockey. Out of everything, Jim loved to travel the world with Amy. They enjoyed many wonderful trips together along with friends. His favorite places to visit were Hawaii, Rome, Santorini and many cruises that Amy planned out for them. On one cruise, they renewed their vows on a Dawn Princess cruise liner in 2001.
