Leona Jean Perkins

Leona Jean Perkins, 93 of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 17 at her home. She was born Oct. 29, 1925 at home in Independence, daughter of George and Jennie Shaffer Hill. She married Eldon Gruber Sept 22, 1945 in Fort Wayne, Ind. and later divorced. She married Ted Perkins in Sept of 1977 in California. He died in 2006. Jean co- owned a drygoods store with her sisters in Harlan Indiana. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, and working on a horse ranch. But her true passion was sewing and watching her family grow to five generations. Survivors include: two sons, Dennis (Joanne) of Arlington Heights, Ill. and Alan (Trulla) of Denver, Iowa; four daughters, Carol (Hap) Klammer of Cedar Falls, Bev (Tim) Lanigan and Joyce (John) McBride both of Waterloo and JoAnne (Ed) Blumenshine of Denver, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; three brothers, and five sisters. Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 23 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1555 W.
