Funeral Home: Fred Hunter Memorial Services
Born March 13, 1938, Enid Deloris Roberts was one of eleven children born to Teresa Green and Charles Buchanan. Affectionately known to her siblings as Dolly she was widely known for her fun-loving disposition and infectious laughter. Enid enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved and was loved by everyone she met. Enid loved everyone just as the Lord intended - accepting everyone as themselves. Her formative years were spent in Richmond, St. Mary, Jamaica, where she grew up with her siblings. While in Jamaica, Enid completed an apprenticeship, but knowing she was destined for more, she took a leap of faith and moved to New York. When her sister Daphne Douglas, in Jamaica, passed away unexpectedly, leaving four small children, Enid took the lead in ensuring that all of the children were raised by a caring family member, and she worked to bring Mezline "Shirley" Cunningham-Smith to join her in New York in 1970. the birth of her second grandchild, Samuel Williams, Jr., known to everyone as J.R. For many years, Enid worked as a home care nurse; however, her true passion was working with children. She retired from nursing to work full time at a local church as an early childcare instructor. Known throughout the school for her quality teaching, she became a popular instructor. The children loved "Ms. Enid" and she loved them dearly. She lit up anytime she was asked about teaching at the school. Her heart and compassion for others was always apparent. Since Enid was the life of the party, known for her fun-loving disposition and infectious laughter, her home was the nucleus for family gatherings. She always worked to ensure the family remained together and in touch, so she worked to bring her remaining siblings and their families from Jamaica to the United States. She believed everyone should have a chance for greater opportunities, and as a catalyst, she was willing to support. Enid's love for her family and friends was wide and deep. Many relatives have called Enid's home as their home throughout the years. In the late-90's, she met the love of her life, Rudolph Roberts, while he was conducting work at a friend's house. They married in 1999 in an intimate ceremony. Through their shared family values, and belief in God, they blended their families to include Hopeton Roberts and Lloyd Roberts, and their children: Nasheeda Roberts, Rasheed Roberts, Kaylia Roberts, Romaine Roberts, Javeen Roberts, Jody Roberts. Enid's love extended to her new sons and grandchildren, and they loved her. On May 16, 2019, due to health complications, she slipped the surly bonds of this earth to spend an eternity with her maker. She is bereaved by her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sisters Beryl "Blossom" Clarke, Dorothy Christie, Norma Edwards, Ivy "Dottie" Barham, Audrey "Pam" Shields, brother Keith Buchanan, and numerous nephews, nieces, and close friends. She is preceded in death by Daphney Douglas, Herbert Green, Adlyn Douglas, Tatleen Francis, Charles "Buster" Douglas, and Arthur "Sonny" Buchanan.
