Betty Mae Swanson

BETTY SWANSON OXFORD, Iowa - Betty Mae Swanson, 89, of Oxford, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at her home. The family will have a private gathering and celebration of her life. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City at a later date. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Iowa City Hospice in Betty's name. Betty was born on June 19, 1929, in Iowa City, the daughter of John Simon and Pearl Mable Poggenpohl Bollinger. She graduated from Iowa City High School, class of 1948. She married George Daniel Swanson Jr. on February 2, 1957, at the Danforth Chapel in Iowa City. They were married almost 62 years. She was a devoted caregiver and would go out of her way to take care of her family. She loved her family. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
