Russell Allen Walker, 78, went to be with his Lord Friday, June 7, 2019 after suffering injuries in a car accident in Waco, Texas. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his death. Russell was born on September 4, 1940 to Russell V. Walker and Helen K. Walker in Houston, Texas He graduated from Refugio High School where he played sports and built cars to drag race at sanctioned race tracks. He attended Texas State University in San Marcos where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He received his BS Degree in 1962 and a Masters in Counseling and Guidance in 1966. He was called to serve in education for 43 years as a principal, counselor, teacher, and coach. As a vocational teacher, he was awarded the Vocational Industrial Outstanding Teacher award in 1988. During his educational career he worked for five different Independent School Districts, Texas Education Agency, Job Corps, the community college of the Air Force, and as an instructor at UT Austin and Texas State. e. Russell was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Austin. In addition, Russell was a Freemason, a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Shriner. As a Shriner, he was a Life Member of the Ben Hur Clown Unit. As a clown, he participated in many parades, circuses, and visited children hospitals. He is survived by his son, Mark David Walker and his wife Laura, their children Levi and Faith; son, Blake Kevin Walker; daughter, Alana Elizabeth Walker, and her children, Trey, Cole, and Seth; and son Jason Bruce Walker, and his children Ryan and Courtney; and his brother, Ronald Bruce Walker. Services will be on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 11:00am at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin TX. In lieu of flowers, Russell would want contributions directed to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas TX., 75219 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N.
