avid fisherman and spent many hours with friends and family fishing the ponds, rivers and lakes around the places he lived. He was a carpenter and in addition to the homes that he built for his family, he also helped build churches, youth camp buildings and parsonages. From the time that he played basketball in high school, he enjoyed watching basketball with his kids and grandkids. George is survived by his wife of 63 years Laura, his daughter Debbie and Chuck Harvey, son Tim and Mary Carole Strother, son Todd Strother, grandsons Ian and Rebecca Harvey, Matt and Callie Strother, Dylan Harvey, Aaron and Silvanne Strother, and Dalton Strother, one great grandson Quillen Harvey, a younger sister Jimmie Ruth Dunn and many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Pinkie Strother, a brother Curtis Strother, and his older sisters Edna Peck and Helen Wales. George was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church Dripping Springs.
