Barbara Kosec, 90, died on July 3, 2019 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Family and friends will gather at a Celebration of her Life from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 13 concluding with a 3 p.m. Prayer Service, all at Iles Grandview Park Chapel. Barbara Ruth Kosec, was born on June 12, 1929 in Baltimore, MD to Elston and Ruth (Wallis) Rawson and grew up in Lake City, MN. She met her husband, Jim Kosec, while in nursing school. They married on October 17, 1951. The family followed Jim's culinary career to many different communities including, Red Wing, MN, Des Moines, IA, Cedar Rapids, IA, Aurora, CO and Strongsville, OH. Barbara worked as a nurse at various nursing homes and Mercy Medical Center. She was skilled in knitting and cross stitch. She enjoyed watching "The Young and the Restless" and sports, especially the Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns.She be will remembered as being hard working and honest in sharing her opinions, without saying anything bad about anyone.
