Maurice C. Hickman, age 90, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of Decatur, Illinois, died on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 6:05 a.m. in Quincy.
Maurice was born April 10, 1929 in Litchfield, Illinois, the son of Maurice C. and Thelma Kemp Hickman.
Maurice was a graduate of Litchfield High School in Litchfield, Illinois. He enlisted in the Illinois National Guard in 1948. His Division was call into active service in February of 1952, during the Korean War. He was discharged in September 1953, as a Sergeant. Maurice was employee at Borg Warner, in Decatur, Illinois, as a machinist. He was with the company for 26 years, from 1955-1981, until they closed. He was later employed at Revere from 1989 until 1996 making stainless steel pots and pans.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen (David) Gibbs of Mt. Pulaski, IL; and a grandson, Brandon Creager of Pensacola, FL.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sandy Creager, grandson, Chad Creager a brother, Bruce Allen Hickman, and sister Carol June Robinson.
Graveside Services: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Elkhart Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Buescher officiating.
