Lance W. Hardt

Lance Warren Hardt was born February 24, 1972 in Fairmont, Minnesota to parents Robert and Inez "Ike" (Ewing) Hardt. He grew up in Swea City, Iowa and graduated from Swea City High School. He married Teresa Kiess on May 18, 1996 in Swea City. They moved and lived in Algona to raise their family. In 2002, Lance embarked on what was to be a much loved career when he was hired as a 911 dispatcher for Kossuth County. He was passionate about his job, enjoying the challenges and the variety that each day brought. Lance's dedication and commitment to his career was second to none and a great source of pride for him. While Lance was generally a private person, the connections he made as a dispatcher and a Sheriff Reserve brought him many wonderful and very close friendships with his co-workers. He had a wide variety of interests that ranged from all forms of technology and being a 'self-professed' computer geek, to the outdoor activities of fishing, racing and the shooting range. Lance is survived by his wife, Teresa of Algona; children, Steven Kiess of Ames, Cheyanne Hardt of Madison, SD; parents, Robert and Ike Hardt of Des Moines; brother, Ryan (Kristin) Hardt of Des Moines; mother-in-law, Anne Kiess of Algona; sister-in-law, Kathi (Chris) Paden of Fairfield Bay, AR; nieces and nephews, Grace and Max Hardt of Des Moines, Conner and Tessa Paden of Fairfield Bay, AR; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Robert "Bob" Kiess.
