Cindy Broughton, 69, nee Cynthia Irene Woodard, died at home in Muskegon, Michigan on July 28, 2019. She is survived by her Husband, Ben; Mother, Lillian Woodard of Jackson; Brother, Doug (Noree) Woodard of Battle Creek; Sister, Connie (Jeff) Harper of East Lansing. Cindy was preceded in death by her father.
Cindy was born in Jackson, MI on October 28, 1949 to Jack & Lillian (Osterhout) Woodard and married Ben Broughton on August 23, 1969. She was a graduate of Jackson High School and Albion College. In school Cindy was known for her soprano voice (but was actually an alto). She was the opposite of a diva, not liking the spotlight, and did not sing publically as an adult.
Cindy worked several years in public broadcasting, then became a marketing representative in the new HMO industry. Cindy advanced to Chief Operating Officer of Blue Care Network of West Michigan until retiring in 1993
She was an avid cook and cruising sailor, a member of the Muskegon Yacht Club and Alcoholics Anonymous. Cindy actively supported women's issues and Democratic candidates.
Cindy was an excellent manager of people and mentor to scores of women at work, AA, sailing, and...[more]
fe. She pushed up the glass ceiling and always shared her successes with those who worked with her.
Following her wishes, Cindy has been cremated and there will be no service or memorial.
