Jerry Mervin Manning

Jerry M. Manning, 69, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Sunday morning, May 1, 2011, at his home in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Carson & Son Funeral Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Jerry Mervin Manning was born on May 23, 1941 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Donald and Esther (Hamann) Manning. He married Cleo M. Ernst on December 2, 1961 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Jerry had first worked for Clinton Engines in Maquoketa and then for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, first as a deputy and then as jail administrator, retiring after 30 years of service. In retirement, he worked for Keyway Management doing maintenance and for Eberhart Farm Service. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved going on the fishing circuits. FLW, WAT, IWTT and MWC were his favorites. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and teaching them the love of the outdoors.
